Hi. 👋

This is me. In all my glory. My house has been social distancing for a few weeks now. Honestly, I don’t know how many days it’s been because they all start to run together. Tuesday we got the official stay-at-home order here in East Tennessee. My husband is the only one that has an “essential” job right now so the rest of us are hunkered down at home.

Here’s the whole fam.

My two children are in college so they are studying online now. I am a nurse but I wasn’t working when COVID-19 started to rear it’s ugly head so I have been able to stay put…for now. I’m supposed to be starting a new job soon but I’m not sure how the timeline will be affected due to the pandemic.

For the most part, I have felt very creative and productive during the past few weeks. I’ve enjoyed making new recipes for the family. We’ve watched several movies together and are binging a few shows on Netflix and Hulu (Brooklyn 99, Bob’s Burgers). I’ve even had some alone time with a Hallmark movie here and there. I’ve sewed a lot, embroidered a lot, and read a lot. I’ve been riding my stationary bike, but it’s been too rainy to do as much walking or running as I’d like. I’ve started planting seeds and doing some yard work. And, believe it or not, amid all this I’ve actually been able to work in some lazy time, too. So self-isolating hasn’t been so bad. But…

There are times that come when I feel the weight of all that’s happening in the world right now. Yesterday was one of those days. I felt overstimulated. Too much information coming from too many directions. And so much negativity. I try to look for the positive, but sometimes it’s hard to find. And then, when I need it most often, words from a much needed hymn will come to me:

Be not dismayed whate’er betide
God will take care of you
Beneath His wings of love abide
God will take care of you

God will take care of you
Through every day, o’er all the way
He will take care of you
God will take care of you

This always helps me to gain some perspective.

This verse is really speaking to me today.
If I can get outside it’s always a great help.

What things help you when you are feeling overwhelmed? I would love it if you commented below.

Remember, this too shall pass. Have a great day!

  1. That is a great verse for these times, a good reminder. I try not to spend too much time on social media, especially when I’m feeling overwhelmed. And I talk with God, quite a bit. Lovely photo of you and your family!

  2. That verse is a great reminder, especially with everything going on right now. When I’m overwhelmed, I enjoy doing crafts. I log off, put on some music, and get lost in a project for a few hours. I’ve been watching Bob’s Burger too. It’s one of my favorite shows.
