You’d be hard pressed to find a bigger baseball fan than me. I get through the cold months of winter by planning trips to see my Braves. So the (very necessary) decision to “suspend all baseball operations” and delay opening day was a hard hit. There’s a quote by former player and manager, Chuck Tanner, that says, “What you have to remember is that baseball isn’t a week or a month but a season – and a season is a long time.” Well, not this year, Chuck, not this year. There is no set date to start and it’s currently unknown how long the season will last. Will there be a World Series in October? How many games will be played? Not 162. And what about the “Midsummer Classic” all star game in July? Will we even be playing games in July? Oh dear, I hope so!

Yep, this girl is an Atlanta Braves fan. I love my Braves. Through the good and the bad. Because I have been taking the loss of baseball so hard I decided to reflect today on past memories. This first group was from a trip to Turner Field in 2017.

These photos were taken in 2014 during the Kimbrel reign. He was a dominating closer and I, along with everyone else, loved to watch him play. And who can forget the fantastic intros for him on the screens all around the field? Who wouldn’t want to see their name in flames? Thanks for bringing the heat when you were with us, Craig! We went a couple of times in 2014. My parent went with us on one of them as a birthday trip for my Mother.

Everyone plans their vacations around baseball, right? Wait, what? You don’t? Well, in the glory days when the Braves played their Spring Training games at ESPN Wide World of Sports complex at Walt Disney World, that’s exactly what I did. More than once. A Disney vacation is a dream anytime! So why not go in February or March? I couldn’t see a reason not to. My family is so supportive of my baseball passion. Alas, my Braves have their own complex elsewhere in Florida now…

Our last Braves game was opening weekend at the new Suntrust Park. We took my parents with us and it was a whirlwind, but great trip. We left early from Tennessee on April 5th to get to the park and watch that day’s game and got back home in the wee hours of the morning on April 6th. It was exhausting but I’d do it again in a heartbeat. It was the first game that we had Bartolo Colon and we got a win against his former team, the Mets. It was also the last game I’ve been to. Joe promised me a Braves trip this year. Fingers crossed.

Almost through. This last set of pictures is from our trip to Oklahoma last summer. We got the opportunity to see the Minor League Oklahoma City Dodgers play one evening. You know me, I’m all about some baseball.

Well, thanks for letting me share. I’m oddly re-invigorated for baseball even though the schedule is still up in the air. This will surely prove to be an interesting year once it does start. In the meantime, I do appreciate the MLB Network for playing classic games and I’m enjoying the abundance of baseball movies that have been made. I watched Moneyball for the first time a few nights ago. Great movie. Also, if you like baseball movies Netflix has one called Full Count. It’s a good family film.

So, do you miss baseball season, too. What about other sports? I miss them as well. I’ve resorted to watching NASCAR iracing on Sundays and I actually like it! Any other sports fans out there? Drop your comments below. Thanks for reading and helping me with my therapy. Ha ha, just kidding (Kinda).

  1. I have been to a baseball game. It is much more fun in person than on TV. I hope they have a baseball season this year. Love the pictures🤗
