This is perhaps the least specific blog you will find. A variety of DIY projects, book reviews, health tips, yoga poses, fashion ideas, recipes or something altogether different depending on my current mood. I've never been pigeon-holed into one category so neither is my blog. Strap in and enjoy the ride!
April Challenge – A Month of Photos & Reflections: Day 15, Cute outfit from 2 t-shirts

I’m cutting up t-shirts again today! Nothing like a little destruction to make you feel good! 😄 This is just a fun little project that is suitable for teens and tweens who may be going stir crazy at home. Speaking as a former homeschool mom, I think they should get Art or Home Ec credit for this. 😉 Everybody has some old tees lying aroud, right?
The finished outfit.
For the skirt, use a t-shirt that is bigger than your normal size. Cut it straight across under the arms. At the bottom seam cut 2 very tiny holes on the outside, about an inch apart. This will make the casing for your drawstring. Cut a piece of cord, ribbon, or a long strip from a t-shirt. This needs to be long enough to fit through the casing and have extra to tie. Put a safety pin on one end. This will make it easier to feed through the casing. Now place it in one of the holes and feed it through to the other, adjusting fabric as you go. Even it up on both sides and you’re ready to try it on. Tie it in a bow.
For the top start by cutting off the sleeves. Then cut the seam off the bottom so that it is rounded. Cut a piece of the fabric off of each shoulder in the shape of a V. Snip a very tiny hole on each side of both Vs near the bottom. This material is very stretchy so the holes should be so little that you barely see it. Next, cut 2 strips from the leftovers of the first t-shirt. These should be 7 or 8 inches long. Pull them both so the fabric will curl a bit. Feed these through the holes beside each V and tie in a bow.
This is a fun project. Since this fabric doesn’t fray there is no need to hem any edges. But if you want a more finished look you could. I probably will eventually.
My mother in law loves to do these sorts of projects with old clothes. She cuts up t-shirts and jeans etc to make clothes to take to their holiday home. I’m not as handy but I admit I used to bleach images etc onto clothes. I wish I could do that again.
This is so adorable. I love your creativity. I’m fairly new to sewing, but this is probably something I can do. I love how comfortable this looks. Anything made out of t-shirts would be awesome. Thanks for sharing.
