Should You Try A Facial Cleansing Brush?

Do you use a facial brush as part of your skin care routine? I’m sure they’re not for everyone and I was hesitant to try one because of my sensitive skin, but I’m glad I finally did. I picked mine up, like so many other things, at my local Ross store so it was very inexpensive. On one side the brush has nylon bristles that are amazingly soft. On the other side are small silicone bristles that gently massage skin. I usually put a squirt of facial cleanser on my brush then gently brush in a circular motion over my face and neck. Next, before rinsing, I flip it over to the massage side and do the same thing. Then I rinse and pat dry. That is the routine that works for me. I do this once daily. You may want to do this less depending on your skin type. Sometimes I use my jade roller that has been chilled in the refrigerator over my face, too, if I have any puffiness. But that’s for another blog post.? 😉

This is my rose gold beauty.

Benefits Of Facial Brushes

  • Your skin can become smoother and more radiant after using a facial brush because it stimulates the surface of your skin.
  • Skin renews itself every 28 days and exfoliation from a cleansing brush can help speed up this process.
  • Exfoliation tightens skin and can shrink the appearance of pores over time.
  • Facial brushes can stimulate the lymphatic system helping to detoxify skin .
  • Using a facial brush can clean better than using your fingertips or a washcloth. The soft bristles give a deeper clean, getting rid of more dirt, and oil.
  • A facial brush prepares skin for serum and/or moisturizer. It will be easily absorbed to help you see better results.
  • Since this type of cleansing reveals fresh skin, be sure to use sunscreen before going outside.

Some Helpful Tips

  • Use warm water and an unscented liquid soap to remove any residue left on the brush.
  • Occasionally use rubbing alcohol to further disinfect bristles.
  • Lay brush to dry on a clean, dry towel.
  • If you’ve never used a facial brush before, start slow to see how your skin reacts. Then you can slowly work up to the usage that’s right for you.
  • Choose a gentle cleanser for your skin type to get the the best results. I use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. It’s light, creamy, and unscented.
  • DON’T USE YOUR FACIAL BRUSH ON THE REST OF YOUR BODY. This can spread bacteria. Also, the skin on your face is more delicate than the skin on your body. Body brushes tend to have firmer bristles that facial brushes.

  1. Thanks for sharing! I’ve never tried a brush but about a year ago I started using a FOREO which is basically a silicone brush that vibrates when on. I love it because it connects to an app that tells me when my skin is dehydrated, and other little measurements!

  2. I have seen a few of them around, but I never bothered to know more or use them. You intrigued me!

  3. It’s not a brush, but I love more foreo! Brushes used to widen up my pores a bit since I have super large pores. The Foreo for sensitive skin is the perfect balance of deep cleaning without being too rough. THanks so much for sharing this!

  4. My wife will surely appreciate this post. She is very particular with her skin care and would not try something new if not proven to be effective. I will refer the product to her. She might like it.

  5. I use to use a brush but don’t have it anymore. I did love it though! Thanks for sharing.

  6. I have tried a facial cleansing brush before but I wasn’t consistent with using it to make a judgement about it. This will kickstart me into using them again and your Rosegold brush looks really pretty.

  7. I have used a facial brush in the past. I will have to check this out as I have been looking to switch.

  8. My daughter uses a facial brush and I have seen how well it works. Her skin is always glowing and she does not have any breakouts or anything. I think I should get one myself!

  9. I’ve never tried a facial cleansing brush before but I’ve always been curious how it works! Didn’t have any idea about how good it is. Maybe I’ll consider getting a new one soon.
