My First Home Perm Experience

My mother has been complaining about her flat hair for a while now. We both have fine hair and we have to work at it to give the illusion of fullness. We both also have issues with our thyroid which can and does affect our hair. It’s been a long time since either of us had a perm. The last couple that my mom had didn’t really take so we were hesitant to try one. But I researched online and found one that I thought would work on her hair. It was an Ogilvie home perm for color treated, thin, or delicate hair. Oh, by the way, I’ve never tried this before, but the DIYer in me thought I could handle it. I mean, how hard could it be??

Actually, it wasn’t hard at all. Just a little time consuming. I had plenty of perms when I was younger so I knew the drill. I watched a few YouTube videos and that combined with the instructions that came with the perm kit was more than enough information. My main concern was with rolling the curlers correctly, but after the first few I got the hang of it.

So, moral of the story, don’t be afraid to try something new. You might be pleasantly surprised!

Stay safe!

  1. Absolutely beautiful, well done.
As a guy, I don’t aspire to learn how to perm hair, but you are right, trying something new, fail, and try again. That’s how we learn. Rather try than not try at all
