Christmas Trees Everywhere

My personal favorite event in my area is the Candyland Christmas every year. There are 160 beautiful trees decorated by local businesses and organizations. The trees span from Founder’s Park into King Commons Park and they are gorgeous. Christmas music plays throughout both parks and there are Christmas trees everywhere. If you plan a trip to East Tennessee, this time of year especially, you should definitely carve out a little time to visit downtown. I’ve included pictures of a few of my favorite trees below and I hope you enjoy them.

Founders Park is a 5 acre area in Johnson City, TN surrounded by the Appalachian Mountains. It was completed in 2014 and has nice walking paths, a flowing creek, and sculptures from a variety of artists. There is also a pavilion and an amphitheater. In the summer there is something to do nearly every weekend.

Next door to Founders Park is King Commons Park which was completed in 2018. It has a walking path, amphitheater, and a playground.

These parks are in the heart of downtown Johnson City. There’s been a lot of improvements in downtown and it’s quite a popular area now. Many bars, restaurants, and shops make their home here and several different artists have been commissioned to create murals and sculptures for the area.
