After months and months of casual looking, we finally found a property that we like. As we began the journey of purchasing a house that requires a complete interior overhaul, we have been filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. While we are thrilled at the prospect of turning this property into a dream home, we also recognize the enormity of the task ahead. The renovation process will take several months, which means that we will need to hold off on listing our current home until the new property is ready.

It’s my hope that moving from a large home to a smaller one can facilitate a simpler and more efficient lifestyle, with less cleaning and upkeep required. From a financial standpoint it can free up resources for other areas of life such as travel, hobbies, and retirement. It can also lead to reduced stress levels and a greater sense of peace, which is undoubtedly the greatest benefit.

As we, not so patiently, anticipate the completion of the project, we are also keeping a close eye on the housing market and interest rates. We are hoping the market remains strong and interest rates drop as predicted entering fall. Fingers crossed!
