My 5 Things

Share five things you’re good at.

Caring for others

I try to consistently demonstrate a genuine concern for the well-being of those around me. I believe that caring for others goes beyond simply meeting their physical needs; it involves offering emotional support, being a good listener, and understanding their unique circumstances. Whether it is lending a helping hand to a friend in need or providing compassionate care as a healthcare professional, I am dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Seeing goals through to the end

Once I make up my mind and commit to a goal, I will see it through to the end. I understand that achieving goals requires discipline and the ability to overcome obstacles along the way. I break down larger goals into smaller, manageable tasks, allowing me to stay focused and motivated. I work on creating a clear plan, setting realistic timelines, and regularly assessing my progress to ensure I am on track.

Simplifying and organizing my space.

Creating a clean and organized space is a skill that I have honed over the years. I have a natural inclination towards decluttering and organizing. This has allowed me to create an environment that promotes calmness and peace of mind. The result is a space that not only looks visually appealing but also functions well, allowing me to focus on what needs to be done and maintain a clear and clutter-free mind.
Finding solace in the outdoors

Finding solace in the outdoors

Spending time in nature has always been a source of peace and rejuvenation for me. There is something incredibly calming and grounding about immersing myself in nature. Whether it’s taking a leisurely hike through the woods, sitting by a peaceful lake, or simply enjoying the beauty of a sunset, being in nature allows me to disconnect for a while and find a sense of peace. The fresh air, the gentle rustling of leaves, and the soothing sounds of birds chirping all contribute to an environment that helps me recharge and reset. It provides a much-needed escape from the fast-paced, technology-driven society we inhabit, allowing me to reconnect with myself and find solace in the outdoors.

Trying to understand other perspectives.

The ability to try to see things from other people’s perspectives is something that I have to constantly work on. I believe that gaining a deeper understanding of different viewpoints is essential for personal growth and fostering healthy relationships. I strive to actively listen to others, seeking to understand their experiences, values, and beliefs.

These abilities have not only helped me in my personal life but also in my career as a nurse. I am always looking for new ways to improve and expand upon them.

  1. I especially like your point about simplifying and organizing your space. Creating a calm and clutter-free environment can truly do wonders for mental clarity and focus

  2. Kudos to you Melissa for demonstrating your care of others. It IS a delight to provide a positive influence in another person’s life. Some of the encouragements I’ve received in the past still give me uplift today. I want to do that for those around me–family, friends, and stranger alike. (Lord, keep me mindful!)
