
Geri surveyed the gorgeous lakeside view. As she sat on the dock she leaned back on her elbows and took in the views around her. She was so thankful that her home was near such a lovely body of water. This was a place where she came to be alone and she had not told anyone about it yet.
She had discovered this place the day she moved into her tiny home. Since she was new to the area and had some introverted independent tendencies she decided to hop into her car and take a leisurely drive around the area. She had wanted to familiarize herself with the surroundings. After passing the hub of activity from local shops and businesses in the campus town she found an unmarked road named Lakemore Lane near the state park. The road sign was barely visible due to drooping branches courtesy of a weeping willow tree. On a whim she decided to turn right hoping that the road name was a sign of things to come. The trees all along the road were in serious need of trimming. Geri supposed that it had been years since they had been attended to. Boy, she was not disappointed.
After driving several miles through a very densely wooded area, and considering turning back several times, she saw an opening up ahead. She soon discovered a clearing in the woods and the most beautiful undisturbed lake. It was surrounding on three sides by mountains with lush vegetation that had obviously benefited from the rainy spring that just ended. She pulled her car into a gravel parking lot on the right side of the road opposite the lake. Weeds had overtaken the lot and the rain had washed out a lot of the gravels. Geri wondered why this area was so unkempt as she surveyed the lake across the road. Deciding that she needed a better view she crossed the road that ended in a dead end several feet away to get a better look…
