A To Z Challenge: Y

My theme this year is Bible verses. Welcome to day Y where the subject is yeast. Often in the Bible the word yeast is used to represent sin. A little sin can wind up destroying your whole life just like a little too much yeast can ruin the bread.

Matthew 16:11, 12 NIV — How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

1 Corinthians 5:6 NIV — Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?

1 Corinthians 5:7 NIV — Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

Galatians 5:9 NIV — “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.”
