Sophie’s Moonlit Escape

Under the cover of night, Sophie slipped out through the creaky back door, the cool air wrapping around her like a comforting shawl. The moon hung high and bright, illuminating the winding path that led to her sanctuary.

Sneaking away from her parents into the woods was the only solace Sophie had in her life. Their expectations loomed over her like storm clouds; every decision felt suffocatingly scrutinized. With each passing day, the weight of their control pressed harder against her chest until it became almost unbearable.

As she reached her favorite clearing, the world around her fell silent. Walking by the river, meandering down the hillside gave her more peace than anything else in her life. Each step along the soft, moon-dappled path felt like a gentle embrace, as if the earth itself was welcoming her into its fold. The river flowed with a soft murmur, its waters glistening under the moon.

As she often did, sitting by the river, she imagined what life might be like if she could live without her parents constant reminders of what she should study, who she should befriend, and what kind of future awaited her. It felt as though they had already scripted her life, leaving no room for her to write her own story. Here, she could breathe. She closed her eyes and let the cool breeze wash over her, imagining herself in a different life—one where she could chase dreams without the fear of disappointing someone.
