52 Hikes In 52 Weeks-#2

I was, as a child, and still am today, very attached to nature. Yesterday, I was inspired to sneak out for a quick little nature walk. 52 hikes in 52 weeks #2. The path I chose wasn’t too far from my house. With the temperature a brisk 20 degrees the ground crunched beneath my feet, echoing into the distance.

I wrapped my scarf tighter around my neck and pulled it up over my mouth. My battery operated gloves were a blessing. I was unable to charge my vest so I just wore plenty of layers.

Reaching the small waterfall, I was disappointed to find that it wasn’t frozen over like I had hoped. Oh well, maybe next time.

I hiked up the rock strewn hillside to the left of the waterfall. At the top I was rewarded with a lovely view of the lake. The water was frozen near the shoreline making a pretty picture.

From there I meandered up a curvy path and onto one of the many hiking trails. The act of walking amidst crunching leaves, chirping birds, and the gentle whisper of the wind always encourages mindfulness, allowing me to immerse myself in my surroundings.

Getting out of the house and into nature, even for just a little while, relaxed me and put a positive spin on the rest of the day. So I encourage you to get outside and see what benefits are in store for you!
