The Great Garden Challenge

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

None of us know what the future will hold so I am not going to dive too deep into this one. Instead, I am going to keep it superficial.

As we are inching closer to spring I have been thinking about gardening. I love being outside and growing things. As long as I’ve been married I’ve had a garden of some kind. Even when I didn’t feel like tilling up an area and having a lot to maintain, I’ve had a few plants here and there. Sometimes it was just a few herbs in pots.

Near the end of last summer we started working on a tiered garden bed near the side of the garage. I really like how it progressed but it proved to be more work than we had anticipated so we didn’t get it completed before winter. Now a big challenge for me will be getting that area complete and having a thriving garden grow there.

The area before we started.

My garage contains various things that I have ordered over the past few weeks. I have a collection of non-gmo heirloom herb and vegetable seeds, organic seed starting and potting mix, and fertilizer. I’m pretty excited about the portable greenhouse and lights that I bought. It’s about time to set that up and get some seed babies started. I was going to put it outside near the driveway, but now I’ve decided to put it on the deck. I believe it will get more sunlight there.

Anyway, lots of challenging work is coming up, but I’m feeling hopeful, especially with the rising price of groceries! 😉

  1. I love this! We’ve started growing our own veg in the last couple of years. It tastes so much better than store bought.

You will have a challenge for sure looking after your garden, but I hope it will be very fruitful. 😊
