Three Skills That I Would Like To Possess

Daily writing prompt
What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?

*Disclaimer* This is no secret. I’ve been slowly working on this for a while.

I have not one, but three, skills that I am currently working on improving to one day find the perfect balance for myself. They are:

1. Minimalism

One key skill that I want to possess is the concept of minimalism. Minimalism is a lifestyle and design philosophy that emphasizes simplicity, functionality, and the removal of excess. In terms of design, minimalism values clean lines, neutral colors, and space. Adopting minimalism in my personal life would allow me to be more intentional with my possessions, prioritize experiences over material things, and cultivate a more peaceful and organized environment. Overall, it is my hope that the ability to embrace minimalism can lead to greater efficiency, reduced stress, and a more fulfilling lifestyle.

2. Organization

I believe that being organized can help prioritize tasks, remember important events, and will work nicely along with my minimalism goal. A well-organized home can also contribute to a peaceful and productive life. I am working on creating a regular practice of setting and following schedules, keeping track of tasks, and creating and maintaining files and records in an easy to maintain way. By possessing strong organizational skills I hope to reduce stress, improve productivity, and have more time to relax and enjoy myself.

3. Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a powerful practice that can be extremely beneficial for mental health. It involves bringing a moment-by-moment awareness to my thoughts, feelings, and surrounding environment without judgement. By developing this skill, I believe that I will be able to better manage stress, improve focus and concentration (much needed), and enhance myoverall well-being. Incorporating mindfulness into my daily routine will help me to become more centered and present, with a clear, focused mind.

What skill(s) are you looking to learn or improve on in your own life?

  1. I’m working somewhat on minimalism, decluttering the house and my wardrobe. For me, it’s a way to make things easier when that inevitable day comes and my kids have to deal with it. Doing the Wool& 100 Day Dress Challenge has helped a lot with the wardrobe. Still a lot of “stuff” around the house, but getting better at passing things along to others.

Organization is where I have always ruled – one of my best traits. Now I struggle to remember where I put it…you know, that one thing you put in a special place so you could find it. LOL!

Mindfulness has been replaced with being active – exercise. At 75, this old body just doesn’t move like it used to and I need to ‘force’ myself to move more.

  2. Wow these are great goals. I need to work on all the 3 listed. I recently had a baby and i have to learn how to be minimalistic because wow babies encourage impulsive buying. I need to be more organized now that there is a small person picking and eating everything. I need to be more mindful because the mommy brain saga has my mind all messy and untidy🤣🙏🏽❤️
    Thank you Issa❤️
