We closed on our “new” property 2 weeks ago and I am officially feeling overwhelmed. Having gutted most of the house now, it feels a little sad. Of course, we both have emotions that are very close to the surface right now as we are tired from working most evenings and we can see the enormity of what is ahead of us. When one of us gets down it naturally affects the other one. Tuesday night, Joe said that he thought it would be a year before we get moved in. That hit me very hard and I had to spend the next couple of days trying to regroup and get my feelings in check. We are both mentally back on track, for the time being. 😆 I’m adding a few demolition pictures to document where we are in the process.

We knew there were some bad spots in the floor that would need to be replaced due to water damage. We also knew, just from life experience, that we would run into unexpected problems, too. Well here is our first one of those. ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Joe had already planned to replace all the plumbing, but while he was under the house he discovered that some of the pipes weren’t even connected! This could have been a disaster. We were seeing 💲💲💲flying out the window, but we have a contractor friend who has graciously offered to help us next week, so maybe it won’t be that bad.
Hopefully, my next post will show more progress. We also have to replace some leaky windows and reframe them. I just need to remember to measure them so I can start searching for new ones 🤪. Stay tuned…

You’re going to love it when it’s done. Trust me on this. We pretty much did the same thing to our home and we’re thrilled with the new look.
Have a fabulous day and week. ♥
Thanks for the encouragement. I can see it in my head, but sometimes it’s harder than others!
Yikes! Have fun?
