Finding Fulfillment in Healthcare: A Personal Journey

Daily writing prompt
What is your career plan?

My career path has been anything but conventional. It has unfolded more like a series of fortunate accidents than a meticulously crafted plan. Initially, nursing wouldn’t have even made my shortlist of preferred professions—it was likely my last choice. I had a friend who wanted me to take a medical terminology and coding class at one of our local hospitals with her. I was even hesitant to do that. But it snowballed from there and, somehow, through a series of unexpected opportunities and experiences, I found myself in a position that not only offers a good salary but also brings me satisfaction. And I work from home now! While I may not have set out to become a nurse, I have enjoyed the journey, for the most part, and I find myself with no complaints about where I’ve landed. I continue to add to my trainings and certificates. There are just so many opportunities in healthcare. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best journeys are those we undertake without a map, leading us to unexpected and fulfilling destinations.
