Pets: The Joys of Dogs vs. The Struggles with Birds

Dogs are awesome. They will be your best friend no matter what. I know mine wouldn’t dream of letting me take a nap or go for a walk alone. She also loves wearing clothes so it’s fun to dress her up.

Birds are another story. I have a cockatiel that is almost 25 years old and I feel like I am being punished daily for the decision to buy her all those years ago! I know that sounds horrible and trust me she is well taken care of, but she is a royal pain in the butt. She doesn’t sing often, but she does scream this loud shrill sound that feels like it’s penetrating our brains. Especially when we sit down to watch t.v. or read. Her other favorite pastime is seeing how far across the floor she can spit seeds. Don’t even get me started on cleaning her cage. Ugh. I regret ever getting her.

Moral of the story: Dogs good. Birds bad. The end.

  1. I am superstitious and was taught birds in the house are bad luck. I don’t believe black cats are bad luck though. 🙂
