Recognizing Those Who Inspire Us

Over the years I have met a few famous people, had photos made, gotten autographs, etc. While that was exciting at the time, it can’t compare to the people I’ve met who have spent time in my life and made an impact on me. Aside from the obvious family members, I have encountered some very inspirational people in my life. One in particular comes to mind …

When I was a teenager participating in the youth group at church our preacher, Wayne, wasn’t much older than us. I didn’t realize that at the time, but now it makes sense because he could relate to us so well. He was full of energy, and still is. The teenage years are a tough time and he was a good, godly anchor for me. Whenever I hear that he is back speaking in the area I make sure I go see him. He is still a breath of fresh air and such a joy! That says a lot about the type of person he is. I can only imagine the number of lives he has touched. When he was speaking locally a couple of years back I was so excited to get to introduce my kids to him. (My husband had already met him). He made them feel like he had known them forever. After they heard his lesson they understood why he was so important to me. I’ve made it a point as an adult to let him know how much I appreciate him. I think it’s important to let people know how they’ve impacted your life. Thanks, Wayne!
