I stopped checking my cellphone as soon as I wake up. I’ve gotten better at that and now I’m working on being on it less in general. It’s easier than I thought it would be. I’m eliminating some social media sites, too. I’m rarely on them now and I honestly don’t miss it. It feels better to have less going on. I tend to wake up before my alarm goes off so when I first wake up now I just lay in bed with my thoughts. I practice gratitude for things that I am thankful for, then I pray. I’m noticing that doing these two things before I do anything else has a positive effect on my entire day. I’m also taking time to jot down my thoughts in a journal and that helps to clear my mind. I’m considering doing a no-buy year in 2026 where I save almost all of my paycheck. I currently spend too much money on unnecessary things. I would prefer paying off our remaining debt instead of acquiring more stuff. My husband pays the majority of our bills so this could make a huge difference in our lives. Plus, I really like the idea of not working anymore. I would love to make things to sell at a farmer’s market and volunteer at the food pantry at our church. We’ll see.
