Give your front door a pop of color!
A quick and easy way to give your house more personality is to add a colorful front door. Don’t let your front door be an afterthought. It’s one of the first things people see when they come to visit. Your front door should set the tone for your whole house. Changing your entryway is a great weekend project that can dramatically change the look and feel of your house.

My front door is orange, which coordinates nicely with my brown house. It’s also my favorite color and I have it scattered throughout my house. The photos below show what a dramatic statement an entry door can make! Just make sure to pick a quality, weather-resistant exterior paint.

Don’t forget the windows
My house doesn’t have shutters. If yours does, you can choose to have your shutters blend with the house or let them stand out with a bright color of their own.

What about some curb appeal?
Flowers are an easy way to spread some happiness. There is an endless number of options with so many flowers and shrubs to choose from. Choose perennials to have plants that come back effortlessly year after year. Or choose annuals which only live for one season. Then you can change it up each year. Personally, I like a combination of the two.

Are you feeling adventurous and want to try a more challenging project? Here are some suggestions: Build a window box for your flowers, prune a shrub into a cool design, or build/buy a trellis and grow some flowering vines.
An outdoor table with a colorful tablecloth and coordinating pillows is a wonderful place to entertain guests. If you have the space, a quiet sitting area for one or two is also a nice touch, and it gives you a place to decompress and be one with nature.
These cool colors are HOT this season!
Try an aqua blue, a light or dark rose, tangerine, or a deep sea green. Again, don’t be afraid to venture out from neutrals. If the idea scares you try it out in a closet or storage room first. Or just paint one accent wall.
Pillow perfection
Pillows are easy ways to add color and they are super easy to switch in and out. If your furniture has a neutral palette you have endless opportunities to change up the feel of your house just by switching out pillows and throws.
Other awesome accessories
Add colors with accent stools or tables and by adding pops of color on your walls.

Don’t forget scents
The feel of your house can be strongly affected by smells. A fresh scent can bring a smile to your face when entering a home. A fresh and fragrant living space will put your guests at ease. The right scents can also enhance your mood positively.
Scents such as lavender can promote a calm, relaxed mood. If your looking for something energizing try citrus. Floral and woodsy scents are said to be emotionally grounding.
Try essential oils in a diffuser or fragrance warmer, which can be electric (using a cord or plugging directly into an outlet), battery operated, or some use a candle. You can also try scented candles or a dish with potpourri.
