I discovered a DIY that has rocked my world! It is so simple. It can even be adapted to be a no sew project. At only 5’4″ I’m not exactly a tall girl. I wear a lot of t-shirts and I do bunches of t-shirt crafts. The basic ones made by Gildan or Fruit of the Loom are always too long for me. So was this one that I found at Ross and wore to church yesterday.
You can see in the “before” picture how frumpy the long shirt looked with my maxi skirt.
Cut a piece of elastic to fit. Snip a small hole on the INSIDE of the hem. Pull elastic through and sew together. Sew the tiny hole closed. Put a drop of fray check on the hole. Done. 😉
While I don’t love the final picture of me, I do love the final result. 👍
Some tips:
- Most knit material won’t fray so sewing the hole shut isn’t necessary. I just like it that way.
- When snipping the hole make sure you are not cutting through both layers. You don’t want a hole on the outside of your shirt.
- The elastic can be tied together instead of sewn.
Thanks for visiting my blog. Stay safe, y’all.
