There’s nothing like a good challenge to get me motivated. I have definitely been a little slack with my blogging! So, enter April! The trees are blooming, the air is getting warmer, and everyone wants to get healthier (or at least look better in a swimsuit). I do believe all the hype about processed sugar being bad for me so I am going to use this month to kick off a no sugar added diet and document the first week. A no sugar diet restricts added sugar. This eliminates sugary foods like candy and soda but added sugar can also be sneak into other foods like soup and pasta sauces. I’m not going to the extreme and limiting natural sugars in fruits and vegetables (I’m not a glutton for punishment after all). Plus, I really want the nutrients from my fresh foods. Ideally I want to follow a mediterranean diet so this will help me to jump start that again.
For breakfast today I made some healthy oatmeal banana cookies.
Ingredients:
- 2 very ripe bananas
- 1 & 1/4 cups of old fashioned oats
- 1 tsp. Vanilla flavoring
- 1 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1/8 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 cup raisins
- Mix all ingredients together and bake 10-12 minutes in a 350 degree oven. This will make about a dozen cookies. ENJOY!
