No-Added-Sugar April: Day 5, What to Drink

It’s hard to beat good ‘ole water for hydration.

So you’re addicted to soft drinks? Can’t pass up you daily Mountain Dew? Maybe you should. A 12 oz. can has 46 grams of sugar. A 12 oz. can of Coca Cola has a whopping 65 grams of sugar in it! A 20 oz. Vitamin Water has 32 grams, a 16 oz. Starbucks Caffe Mocha has 35 grams, and there’s 47 grams in a Yoo-Hoo!

Try a seltzer!

So what are your alternatives? I drink a lot of water, filtered and spring. But sometimes I like a little flavor. Unsweetened tea is always an option. I have discovered Hint Water which has just a little hint of flavor. We have also acquired a taste for seltzers like La Croix. There are lots of flavors to choose from but if you aren’t used to it beware-it’s an adjustment. Once you adjust to it you’ll be hooked! But if you are okay with natural sugars just get some no-sugar-added fruit juice or fruit and veggie juice.

If you choose juice opt for the no-sugar-added variety.
