No-Added-Sugar: Day 6, Harmful Effects of Sugar

Some of the links on my site are affiliate links, meaning, at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

A simple internet search on the effects of added sugar will give you way more information than you can imagine. Here are just a few things that I found interesting. Maybe you will, too.

Eating too much added sugar, especially from soft drinks, increases your risk of weight gain leading to visceral fat accumulation.

Eating too many added sugars in your diet and processed foods may increase depression risk in both men and women.

Sugary foods have been shown to increase the production of AGEs (Advanced glycation end products), which can accelerate skin aging and cause the formation of wrinkles.

Too much sugar can lead to obesity, insulin resistance and inflammation, all of which are risk factors for cancer.

Obesity and insulin resistance are both also risk factors for Diabetes Mellitus.

These are just a few negatives that I found. It’s important to note that not all sugar is bad. We should just strive to eat natural sources like fruits, and do that in moderation. Thanks for reading my blog and for going through my no-added-sugar month with me. 😁
