Bloganuary – To Read Is To Live

Who is your favorite author and why?

For non-fiction books I’ll go with Bill Bryson. He has a very witty way of telling his stories. Most of his books are travelogues and focus on some of the various odd characters he meets in his journeys. When reading his books I feel as if I’m right there with him. He renews my already strong appreciation of nature.

A Walk in the Woods is the first book of Bryson’s that I found. It was also made into a fun movie with Robert Redford and Nick Nolte.

“When you’re on the AT, the forest is your universe, infinite and entire. It is all you experience day after day. Eventually it is about all you can imagine.”

As far as fiction goes there is no way I could put my finger on one author. I read way too many random books on my Kindle to even begin to narrow it down. I can’t even pick a favorite genre!

Do you have a favorite author? If so, please tell me about him/her. I’d love to check them out.

  1. Bill Bryson sounds like one I need to check out — I totally agree with you about the difficulty in choosing one author or even one genre. I had the same struggle with this prompt and Kindle opens the door to “sampling” so many writers, it keeps getting harder.
