In a spirit of renewal, I have made more goals for myself than usual, embracing changes designed to see personal improvement by the end of 2026. I’m focusing on a holistic approach to personal life. I hope to create a more balanced and fulfilling year ahead, but I guess time will tell if I’m successful.
For the first time ever I am attempting a no buy year in which I will only buy necessities when they are absolutely needed.
I’m using mindfulness to improve my purchasing habits and to develop a deeper appreciation for what is truly essential. I’m shifting my focus from consumerism to sustainability. This approach will hopefully help me evaluate my needs versus wants, promoting an awareness that can lead to more intentional choices in the future. I’m using this year as a chance to explore creative alternatives and to maximize my existing possessions. I hope to get more creative and use the resources I already have.
The reason for my no buy year is my goal to pay off my new truck this year.
Focusing on the goal of paying off my new truck this year serves as the big motivator to stay committed to my no-buy year. The plan is to channel my resources and energy towards this debt to get a step closer to financial freedom. This year is going to require more discipline than I am used to, but it’s about more than just paying off a vehicle, it is an opportunity to develop better habits that prioritize financial stability.
Embracing the Mediterranean diet and meal planning accordingly.
The Mediterranean diet focuses on whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and healthy fats. It’s said to be one of the healthiest diets in the world. I already eat a lot of fruits and veggies, but I need to eliminate the fried foods and over-processed things that are so convenient at the grocery store. Planning my meals around the Mediterranean diet can help streamline grocery shopping and reduce food waste. Adopting this diet will hopefully create a balanced approach that nourishes my body and my mind.
Scheduling time for improving my ukulele and crochet skills.
I tend to have lofty crafting goals which results in me feeling overwhelmed and ultimately not getting anything at all accomplished (sound familiar? 😄) Incorporating these hobbies into a regular routine will hopefully improve my skills AND give me a sense of accomplishment. Finally!.
Daily Bible study, walking at least 30 minutes, yoga & meditation.
I’m establishing a routine of daily Bible study, regular walking, yoga, and meditation as a holistic approach to my personal well-being and spiritual growth. Engaging with scripture each morning calms me and gives a deeper understanding of my faith and really helps when I encounter challenges. The goal of daily walking for at least 30 minutes, yoga and meditation, is to improve my focus, decrease brain fog, and improve my flexibility. This is my main form of self care for the year. I’m hoping that by the end of the year these three practices will be ingrained in my daily life to improve my resilience, enhance mindfulness, and lead to a more balanced and fulfilling existence.
My hope for December 31, 2026 is that these intentional adjustments have enhanced my daily routine, self-reflection and adaptability, ensuring that I can navigate challenges and seize new opportunities as they arise. What are your goals for this year?
