Trying To Take Care Of Myself

Daily writing prompt
What strategies do you use to maintain your health and well-being?

I know I’m not getting any younger, so I try to take proactive steps to ensure my overall health and wellbeing. Some days I’m better at it than others. In pursuit of this goal, I have adopted a few healthy habits that center around good nutrition, regular exercise, and restful sleep. My diet consists primarily of fruits and vegetables, which provides my body with the essential vitamins and nutrients needed to function at optimal levels. I also eat beans, dairy, and lean meats in moderation. My meat of choice is fish. I basically try to adhere to a mediterranean diet as best I can.

In addition, I make it a point to engage in physical activity every day. I have a step goal that I try to stick to and I have weights on my desk that I use during the day. To further enhance my mental clarity and reduce stress, I have also incorporated deep breathing, yoga, and meditation into my daily routine. I believe this may help more than anything else.

I have to work the hardest on getting quality sleep each night. Even though I know I shouldn’t, I go down rabbit holes on Pinterest because there are so many plans I am formulating for our new home. Then it’s hard to turn my mind off for sleep, but I’m working on being more disciplined where that is concerned. I’m considering not having a t.v. or allowing any technology in my bedroom in the new house. Do any of you have any input on that? Do you have a t.v. in your bedroom? I’m interested in getting other opinions on that one. Please comment below.

  1. While we do have a television in our room, we only use free movie apps, or a movie drive my husband built over the years, and at night he likes to play those sleep sounds or nature sounds videos with dark screens… he says I sleep better when he plays it
